Table Noir for Fine Dining restaurant ULO in Greenland

Gastronomic comment to the rapid climate changes

Table Noir

Table Noir, the Danish award-winning design brand, has in collaboration with Greenlandic Fine-Dining restaurant ULO and Norwegian ceramist Anne Udnes made a "Gastronomic Statement Serving to the Rapid Climate Changes" as an urge to take action.

The serving is unveiled as a Gastronomic Comment on the opening day of UNs Climate meeting COP 29 to draw attention to and show the effects of climate change in one of the world’s most vulnerable regions.

Fine Dining Restaurant ULO

The serving is made in collaboration with Fine Dining Restaurant ULO that is placed right next to the Icefjord in Ilulissat. The serving is made with Greenlandic scallops that lives in the Icefjord at Ilulissat and is dependent of the cold waters.

The scallops are served on an ice-glazed plate with a broken edge that takes inspiration from the Glaziers that is melting at unprecendented rates and the icebergs that are braking off.

Anne Udnes

Table Noir choose to invite Anne Udnes to the project since she is a celebrated Norwegian ceramist known for her work that captures the essence of the nature.

Her pieces focus on texture and form, incorporating elements of nature to enhance the dining experience.

Inspired by the Greenlandic nature

The Statement serving is made on a specially designed plate that takes inspiration fromthe rapid changes happening to the Greenlandic nature. The Ceramic plate is ice-glazed and crafted with a broken edge, symbolizing the way icebergs break off from glaciers in Ilulissat and representing the visible effects of global warming

Ilulissat, UNESCO World Heritage

The Fine Dining restaurant ULO is placed in Greenland in at the Icefjord in Ilulissat.

The Icefjord was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004, making it the first area in Greenland and one of the first in the Arctic to receive this distinction. The Icefjord was recognized both for its exceptional importance to glaciological science and its breathtaking natural beauty.
